1. Novo lar

Can$ 440.

Meu novo lar:

Homem Estranho: – De qual time é essa camiseta??

Eu: – Do melhor time do mundo, o São Paulo…

HE: – Quanto você quer por ela??

HE: – Te dou agora US$ 200,00.

HE deu uma risada.

Marie Kim: hahaha

Eu: – E a camisa junto com o Rafael??

HE: foi embora rindo.

A frase: “O barato sai caro”.

Can$ 26 a 100, dependendo do tamanho.

HH

Nouvelle maison

HI: – Je te donne maintenant US$ 200.00!

New home

Today was my last day in the Hoje “Homestay”, my italian family is awesome! Always very concerned about me, but I needed to save money, so I was searching a good place to live and, finally, I found it. A clean and very cosy place for a good price: Can$ 440.00.My new home:

Este slideshow necessita de JavaScript.

Now I think I’m able to organize my trips better and, who knows, find a part-time job to help me, at least, to pay my beers on the weekends?!Bizarre fact on Friday
Yesterday I played soccer with some people from GEOS Language school (where I’m studying French). 3 people attended the meeting – Marie Kim (canadien girl who works in GEOS), Rafael (Venezuela), and me (Brazil).

There are a few years since the last time I played, even though, the 2 stayed fascinated with my technic and style. I did teach them how to play a game called “3 dentro, 3 fora” (a famous Brazilian game with a soccer ball) and we played for up to 1 hour. Note: Brazilian are not so good, the real thing is: the rest of the world doesn’t know how to play soccer.

Well… I was using a t-shirt of Sao Paulo, the best team of the world (yeah! We defeated Barcelona, Milan and Liverpool) and after the game, something unexpected happened. A man startet looking at me and we talked for a while. The dialogue was more or less like that:

Strange Guy: – From which team is that T-shirt??

Me: – The best soccer team ever, Sao Paulo…

SG: – How much do you want for it??

Me: – Not less than US$ 1.000,00 (thinking it was a joke).

SG: – I give you US$ 200,00 now!

Me, Marie and Rafael were astonished for about 5 secs. I was kind of embarrassed, because I had bought the t-shirt on a sale for R$ 100,oo, besides, it was dirty and sweaty.

Me: – Actually, I payed half of this price, go to internet and try to find out there, I know you can find it for a better price. He went away kind of smiling.

Rafael: – Hey, do you wanna buy mine??

The guy just laughed.

Marie Kim: hahaha

Me: – What about the t-shirt plus Rafael??

HE: He did keep walking away.

Rafael: – Well, I’d have to pay him if I wanted to sell my t-shirt with me.

Marie Kim told us after the episode, that was forbidden to walk naked in Montreal. I said I’d thought of that … imagine if I sell my clothes for $ 200.00, go out walking naked, take a ticket and go to jail? Yeah… things could have been worse! Although, if the guy would put $ 1,000.00 in my hand I would have ventured.

Suspicious history

I met two Brazilians, one of them formed a group with 3 girls to share a hotel room at the Hilton in Toronto for three days with lunch included for Can$ 79.00. The package was purchased from a Chinese company. So far so good, in fact, everything perfect: PARADISE. Or almost perfect. This reminds me of an infamous list of phrases that we used to talk to make jokes. The phrase: “The cheap comes out expensive”. Obviously, I did not say that because I’d just known the guy, but asked him how he felt about it. Actually, it would a challenge even for Einstein:

BRAZILIAN GUY + 3 WOMEN IN A HOTEL ROOM (HILTON) + CHINESE COMPANY for CAN$ 79.00 =  ?? (something stinks)

Am I wrong? Am I pessimistic for being 101% suspicious? Well .. if they come back alive, they’ll have to tell me how it was, because I will buy the package on the spot. Also, I heard that I can find the IceWine there for Can$ 26 to 100, depending on size.HHThe happy-hours here seem to happen always in midweek, I went once on Tuesday and another on Thursday. On Thursday I was in a bar called “Thursday” (I know, it sounded kind of ridiculous), and there you can buy any drink double at an affordable price. Two long necks Molson Dry (beer not very good) for Can$ 6 or two vodkas for Can$ 7. Important tips for subways and buses tickets

You have loads of options, you can put a certain amount of money or tickets, you can buy a ticket valid for one day (bus and subway) for Can$ 7.00, or 3 days for Can$ 14.There are also weekly and monthly pass that I believe are the most advantageous.

If you opt for the weekly it’ll cost Can$ 24 and Can$ 70 the monthly.

Note: The first time you load the weekly or monthly, you’ll need to buy a card that costs Can$ 6.

Note2: The week starts on Monday and goes until Saturday. The monthly starts to be valid in the first day of the month and over in the last day of the month, if you buy a monthly on the 29th of the month, you can only use for 2 days.

Tip for a student of “Quebecois” French

A site where you can find Sitcoms, movies, documentaries, interviews of Canada and elsewhere. Tou.TV. Add to your favorites, it has helped me to develop my listening.

That’s all folks, for this week. Time has passed very fast indeed, I didn’t even have time to go to the gym! But now the priority is to buy a camera and review my expenses. Tomorrow is the Piknic Eletronic. I’ll see if I make a nice sight seen tour by Montreal from Tuesday on to take and post some pictures.
